2017 - Third place went to a person who is making only his second time to enter this contest. Michael Poole of Chapel Hill, NC made the cut to the final 5 in the 2016 competition. Michael is a Physician’s Assistant who says he is about to retire. He likes to attends other festivals like Mountain Laurel. Michael also plays the piano, mountain dulcimer and the guitar. His favorite thing to do in Winfield is jam out in the campgrounds. His hobbies include horses, singing and gardening. Michael won the 3rd Place Trophy, $75 in cash and an Oscar Schmidt OS 11021AE Autoharp by Oscar Schmidt/US Music Corporation of Buffalo Grove, IL
