Matthew Arcara

Matthew Arcara is a musician and carpenter from Allston, MA. This was Matt’s fourth time to enter this contest. In 2004 he placed 2nd and in 2005 he made the cut to five. This 26-year old says, “I’ve been playing the guitar for a long time.” Matt got his first guitar from his dad; it was and old Gibson. Now he has reached the pinnacle of flatpicking, the champion of the flatpickers at the Walnut Valley Festival. Matt’s hobbies are books and traveling. He is an avid reader who loves to travel. Maybe this championship will give him more opportunity to travel and as he travels he can read. He is also a member of a band called “Joy Kills Sorrow.” The 1st Place Trophy, $2,000 and a Collings Winfield Model Mahogany/Adirondack Spruce Guitar by Collings guitars of Austin, TX was earned by Matt for his efforts.
