International Autoharp Championship | Second | 2006 |
In 2006, The 2nd place trophy, $100 and an Evoharp 21W by McSpadden Dulcimers of Mountain View, AR was awarded to Heidi Cerrigione of Ellington, CT. This was Heidi’s first trip to Winfield and the Festival and she didn’t come away empty handed as they say. In real life she is a secretary in a real estate appraisal firm. She knows the price of homes in Ellington and she also knows how to play the autoharp. Heidi say she has been casually playing the autoharp her dad gave her for the past 30 years. She got her first autoharp because her dad was a truck driver who delivered autoharps to a distributor and he brought one home for her one day. It was “love at first sound” so to speak and she has been playing it ever since. She also plays the Mountain Dulcimer but has no plans to enter that contest at the Festival. When not playing the autoharp or working she enjoys doing computer notation transcriptions, hiking and camping. She plans to return and try for the top spot if times permits.
