Dan Crary’s letter-perfect timing, flawless execution, impeccable taste and non-stop creativity put him at the top of any list of the world’s greatest flatpicking guitarists. In addition to writing a monthly guitar column for Frets Magazine, Dan tours regularly, both as a solo performer and as a member of the super trio (now actually a quartet) B-C-H (Berline-Crary-Hickman). B-C-H recently released its fourth Sugar Hill album, and now Dan has released his third solo album, Take a Step Over.

Take A Step Over is a showcase for Dan’s incredible virtuosity and versatility on 6- and 12-string guitar. Surrounded by a stellar cast of back-up players, including his B-C-H partners Byron Berline & John Hickman, New Grass Revival members Sam Bush, Bela Fleck and John Cowan, and vocal wizard Herb Penderson of the Desert Rose Band, Dan shines on a wonderful variety of songs and tunes from traditional favorites to contemporary ballads. His driving 6-string powers two hot instrumentals, "Bugle Call Rag" and Bill Monroe’s "Come Hither" with the New Grassers.

Take A Step Over might just as well be called "The Best of Dan Crary." With masterful flatpicking, soulful singing, great songs, and an all-star supporting cast, as the Washington Post says, "picking doesn’t come much better than this!"
