Lucille Reilly

Lucille has been to the Festival numerous times and has entered this contest six times. She is now a three-time winner of this Championship: 1995, 2003 and now 2010. In addition she was the 1997 National Hammer Dulcimer Champion. Earlier in 2010, she entered the Mt. Laurel autoharp contest and placed first and since she did the same in 1995 and then won the competition in Winfield she thought she would try to duplicate the feat. Lucille started playing the autoharp in 1990 and bought one from George Orthey during a low point in her life. Lucille said, “I thought it would cheer me up.” In addition to playing the autoharp she plays the hammer dulcimer, recorder, mountain dulcimer and guitar and sings and composes for choir. Her hobbies include knitting, (she has knitted socks for her husband) spinning, hiking, cooking and watching birds and butterflies. Lucille won the First Place trophy, $150 in cash and a d’Aigle Cascade SP Autoharp by Pete Daigle of Des Moines, WA.
