Second place in the 2010 International Finger Style Guitar Championship was earned by Pete Huttlinger from Nashville, TN. Pete has attended the Festival both as a contestant in the National Finger Style Guitar contest and as a performer. In 1999 he placed second in that contest and was the National Champion in 2000. A professional musician by trade Pete makes his living by playing music and one can readily tell he loves doing it. He started playing the guitar because according to Pete, “I bothered her until she gave in.” The rest is history! He has played with a number of groups but many remember him as a member of John Denver’s band for four plus years. A recent highlight of Pete’s life is that he was one of three acoustic guitarists invited to play at Eric Clapton’s CROSS ROADS Guitar Festival in Dallas, TX. The other two were Doyle Dykes and Laurence Juber. When not playing the music he loves one can find him with fly rod in hand at any local fishing spot. Pete chose the Larrivee LV-10 Custom Guitar by Jean Larrivee Guitars of Oxnard, CA.
